...about having a concealed carry permit. I have heard nothing in reply. My inbox has not blown up. It's been a couple hours now.

Will not link because not necessary, but for context, there was a comment calling middle-aged men with impotency, flipping the bird at cars poster candidates for concealed carry. So I countered.

I carry an M&P 9, although for light carry, I'd like an M&P Shield, and an M&P45 would be neat to have. I've looked at 1911s, but I just can't justify the cost. Yeah, it would be cool to have one, but I need that money for ammunition and an exhaust system for the Mustang.

Here's what I posted, for additional context:

Concealed carrier here. Pistol use is reserved for those who are actively threatening me, coming up to my window screaming. Even then, I will try to escape the situation before pulling my gun. Also, I don't engage in douchery, like flipping people off, because it may lead to someone following me, coming up to my window when I stop and threatening me. Carry permit holders, like myself, ABHOR the thought of having to kill someone, so I take extra care to avoid situations where I may have to use my right to self defense.

Fixed. Anyone who knows anything non-Gawker spittlish about CCL would know that CCL holders are significantly more law abiding in confrontation than the police.

The 1911 is more of a pipe dream, but I do really want a .45 of some sort. Really, I just want a gun with me at all times, even a little .22 would be fine as long as I can kill an attacker/robber/road rager/bad person with it.

I've heard lots of good things about the Ruger LCP and M&P Shield. There's plenty of other small-frame pistols out there that are good for pocket carry or similar.

NY generally isn't friendly to gun enthusiasts. If you like guns and civilization, Washington isn't a bad place. Pretty much the only real limits on weapons or parts is no short barrelled rifles or machine guns.

I got something like 4 recommendations on my post, but being calm and rational probably made him/her feel like a judgemental asshole, so they just shut up. Or they thought "Oh, he's just a grey. No one will see it anyways."

All kinds of folks have CCL...my mom is 72 and carries a small 25 cal with her when she shops or goes to the mall. I'm pretty sure if someone fucked with her-she's shoot first and ask questions later.

Yeah, either way, some people listen and think and some people just plow forward with their guided or misguided ideas. I have learned that 90 percent of the Gawker commentariat do not share my beliefs and do not care to listen so any time I feel the need to post something there, I come here and post an Alfa.
